Bakewell has excellent, numerous local bus services that follow scenic routes to local towns, villages and beauty spots. Also calling in Bakewell is the two hourly trans Pennine Nottingham, Manchester, Nottingham bus service and the daily Manchester, London, Manchester bus service. Our nearest railway station is Chesterfield.

About our area :
Bakewell is a lovely historic market town that is set on the river Wye. It has a good number of excellent restaurants, cafés and shops. It is famous for it's Monday market, it's Bakewell Puddings and its August annual Show.
Ashford in the Water is a small village, again set on the river Wye. It has a small shop, post office and three good pubs/restaurants.
Both Ashford and Bakewell are within easy walking distance.
Chatsworth House is situated in Chatsworth Park and it is the home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire. You can drive through the park and there is some free parking. There are excellent and easy walks in and around the park. The House and gardens are open to the public and a visit is strongly recommended. A visit to the famous annual Chatsworth concerts, or country fair, or horse trials may also appeal. A visit to the Chatsworth Farm Shop is recommended to sample local Chatsworth produce.
Haddon Hall is a beautiful historic hall that is also open to the public
Monsal Dale is an excellent walking area with wonderful views across the dale and good food is available at the top of the dale.
Over Haddon over looks Lathkill Dale and is another beauty spot with some lovely walking and again with good food/pub at the top.
Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Monsal Dale and Over Haddon are all within a ten minutes drive away or you can walk to any of them following scenic footpaths and lanes (which can be steep in places ).
